Mollie Wald passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the age of 92, to be with her Lord and Savior. Mollie was born December 6, 1929, to Florence and Nicholas Gaglia, Italian immigrants, in Miles City, MT. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in 1948. Mollie married her high school sweetheart, George, February 9, 1950, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Their romance lasted 63 years. In 1964, Mollie, George, and their six children moved to Great Falls when George was transferred for his work. Upon her arrival in Great Falls, Mollie became a life-long member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church (formerly Sts. Peter and Paul) and was active in St. Elizabeth’s Circle. She was a member of the University of Great Falls Women’s Guild. Her devotion to the Catholic faith was evident in the way she led her life and the relationships she had with family, friends, fellow parishioners, and her Stites Memorial Center family. Mollie was a dedicated wife and a loving mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, traveling the state to follow her children and grandchildren’s school activities. Her family was her first priority and what she was most proud of. Mollie had many activities. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, bowling, playing golf, and playing cards. Mollie and George loved spending time at their cabin at the Dearborn and their children’s cabins. Any chance they had, you could find them in the Montana outdoors fishing and boating. In their 70s, they bought a camper and traveled the state with their friends. Mollie is survived by five children and their spouses, Tom (Sheryl) Wald, Doug (Melodi) Wald, Janet (Dee) Knutson, Geri (Tim) Burton, and Judy (Pete) Tucker; son-in-law, Dan Ridgley; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Dani Wald Baker (Chris), Tyson (Jami) Wald, Bobbi Wald Soper (Aaron Brock), Nick Wald (Ali Smith), Kolter (Lucy) Knutson, Kendal Knutson Conley (Tyler), Brittany Burton Doubek (Jake), Brice (Madi) Burton, Matt (Noelle) Tucker, Jessi Tucker Oeleis (Jace), and Jake (Natalie) Tucker; 22 great-grandchildren, Luke, Carter, and Bennett Baker, Kyler Wald, Cole, Molli, and Gus Soper, Banx Wald, Stella, Cade, and Camden Knutson, Beckham, Kenna, and Zoey Conley, Haddie, Jett, and Lucy Doubek, Indie Burton, Lennyn, Colt, and Jude Oeleis, and Preslee Tucker. Mollie is also survived by her twin sister, Mary Owens; sister, Stella Bradley; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Katie and Fred Dyba; and many nieces and nephews. Mollie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George; her eldest daughter, Georgean; two great grandsons, Riley Wald and Nolan Baker; her parents, sisters, Julia Pavelis and Anne St. Peter; and brother, Tony Gaglia. Services will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church; a vigil service will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. and funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Holy Spirit Social Hall. Memorials are suggested to Holy Spirit Catholic Church (201 44th St So) or Stites Memorial Center (c/o Diocese of Great Falls, 121 23rd St So).
