Michael “Mike” Dennis Stafne passed away in Great Falls, Montana on October 25, 2020, at the age of 72. Mike, as he was known to his friends and family, was born January 15, 1948, in Glendive, MT to Reynold and Mildred Stoughton Stafne.When Mike was young, he moved with his family to Great Falls, where he attended St. Thomas School and Central Catholic High School. After his high school graduation, Mike attended the Abbey in Richardton, North Dakota before finishing his degree in Political Science and History at Carroll College.In 1972, he enlisted in the Army and served as a chaplain’s assistant.Following his honorable discharge, Mike worked for the State of Montana in Glendive, as a substitute teacher in Great Falls, and eventually retired in 2013, after working many years for Cascade County. He married Carol Carlson in Belt, Montana, and they were later divorced. Mike lived a simple God-filled life and was always willing to help his family and friends.He had been a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, and most recently attended services at the Benefis Hospital Chapel as well as saying the rosary with his sister, Marlys every morning. Mike leaves behind two sisters, Yvette Zimdars of Beach, North Dakota and Marlys Creasman of Great Falls; nine nephews and nieces, Kevin, Kim, Kelly, Kathy, Kerri, Troy, Shawna, Jason, and Nichole.He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Myrna Reinhart; niece, Karla Zimdars; and three brothers-in-law, Keith Reinhart, Curly Creasman, and Dick Zimdars.
