Michael M. Johnson Mike, 44, of Great Falls, passed away at home from natural causes, Saturday May 20, 2017.Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schnider Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at O'Connor Memorial Chapel.Mike was born December 17, 1972 in Great Falls to Patricia A. and Morris F. Johnson. He attended Lincoln Elementary and East Middle School, graduating from Great Falls High School class of 1991. He played football for GFHS, playing in the championship twice in four years. He also raced BMX bikes, taking him as far away as Canada where he earned several championship trophies. He also played Little League baseball. He attended MSU in Bozeman and graduated from MSU Northern in Havre with a degree in computer aided drafting in both civil and structural engineering.Mike has spent the past 20 years working for TD & H Engineering in Great Falls. During summers while going to school, he worked at Montana River Outfitters both in the store and on the river. He made lasting friendships and many memories.Mike met and later married Rachel Burnham in 1996. They have two children, Morgan 16 and Hayden 14.Mike or Miguelito, as some of his friends called him was very active in the community. His highlight was coaching his children in basketball, soccer, football, and baseball. He may not have played all of these sports, but he spent countless hours researching plays, the correct gear needed, and essentially the strategies of these games. His competetive, but mild manner made Mike an amazing coach. Mike touched many young peoples lives and left a lasting, positive impression with them. He also served on the Youth Soccer Board, Americans Little League Board, and was a member of the Home Builders Association. If there was a chance for Mike to volunteer you knew you could count on him. Mike was also instrumental in getting the 406 Elite Baseball Team going and creating its logo. Mike had a love for technology and was always keeping up with it. Other things he enjoyed were home improvement, snowmobiling, golfing, hunting, cooking, and creating new recipes, beers, family, and friends. Mike will be deeply missed by the many people that he touched throughout his life.Mike is survived by his mother, Patricia Johnson; wife Rachel Burnham Johnson; daughter Morgan Johnson; son Hayden Johnson; in-laws Ken and Shirley Burnham of Helena; sisters-in-law Renee Olsen (Greg) and Rhonda Umsted (John) all of Helena; four nephews, AJ Kanthack, Tory, Jordan, and Zach Umsted; two nieces Taylor and Callie Kanthack; great-nephew Ryker Umsted; great-niece Audrina Simac Umsted; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his father, Morris Johnson; grandparents; and brother-in-law Chris Kanthack..
