Mervine R. (Mapston) Yurek, 85, of Great Falls, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018. A memorial service will be Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Mervine was born on September 29, 1932 in Stockett, Montana to Mervin and Rose (Sticka) Mapston. She was a school bus driver in the Stockett and Sand Coulee area for over 32 years. During this time she also helped her husband with farming and ranching. She married Donald A. Yurek on June 5, 1952 in Stockett. They were together for over 45 years, until his passing in 1997. Mervine was a member of the Homemakers Club, Centerville PTA, and the Cowgirls Association. Her favorite hobbies were ceramics, card playing, traveling and camping with family. She was also a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Centerville. She is survived by her children, Karen (Tim) Smith, Wayne (Cecelia) Yurek, Rick (Linda) Yurek, and Dale (Tracy) Yurek all of Stockett; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sister Beatrice Davis of Great Falls. Mervine was preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents; and two sisters, Louise Kujala and Verna May Hall.
