Marvin David Severson, 70, of Redstone, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015.Family services will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.Marvin was born on July 5, 1944 to George and Ruth (Lervick) Severson in Scobey, Montana. He was a 3rd generation rancher in Redstone. He graduated from Plentywood High School and married Linda Tryan November 10, 1962 at Zion Lutheran Church, that same year. He was a lifetime rancher with many trainees coming to the ranch from all over the worldNE Montana Wagon Train was a major part of his life. He only missed 2 in the last 40+ years. He was planning this years Wagon Train, The Bud Handy Memorial Wagon Train to have a stop at the Severson Ranch as a tribute to the family of one of his many close friends and to celebrate the 105th year anniversary of the Severson Ranch, and the family still plans on continuing on with his dream. It was always a treat for the grand kids to come for the wagon train which filled Marvin with joy to have all of the family with him wherever they were.He was a member of the Jaycees, Zion Lutheran Church, and the Flaxville750 Club, winning many ribbons horse racing with his horse Sunlight back in the early years. In later years, he was instrumental in keeping the 750 Club alive.Marvin enjoyed hunting at the 320 Ranch, south of Bozeman, Augusta, and his own property. He would let anyone hunt at the ranch as long as they didnt hunt the pheasants close to the house. He was a great country dancer and loved making people smile, which he was good at. He was never a stranger for long and he never forgot the name of anyone he met, touching so many lives too numerous to mention. He always lived by, A man is only as good as his word. He would do anything for anyone, being anywhere he had to be at the drop of the hat, and always putting others first. He left footprints on so many hearts and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. The Lord needed a cowboy, so He rolled the dice one more time and his numbers came up. During treatment Marvin was always talking about the light at the end of the tunnel, and now he has found it. The last thing he said was, Ill always be watching over you.Marvin is survived by his wife of 52 years Linda of Redstone; sons Lonnie of Great Falls and Monte of Belgrade; grandchildren Jody (Christian), Lexi, Graci, Hayden, and Sierra; great grandchild Carsen; siblings Norman (Naomi) of Williston, ND, Vernon (Lorraine) of Great Falls; and Eileen (Ray) Wittak of Flaxville; sister-in-law Cheryl Severson of Miles City; other special grandchildren Sean and Tayler of Belgrade; numerous nieces and nephews; and way too many friends acquired through the years to mention. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Ruth and brother, Ronald.
