Marjorie Marge Ann Thacker died February 25, 2017 at the extended care facility in Conrad, Montana.Marge was born on December 3, 1921, in Lawton, Iowa to Gilbert and Charlotte Younglove. She was raised and educated in Stanford, Montana and had a two year teaching certificate from Northern Montana College. She taught for two years in a country school and Geyser Elementary. During World War II she traveled to Tacoma, Washington where she worked in a shipyard helping build ships. After the war, she took a teaching job in Cut Bank, where she met her future husband.In 1946, she married Clarence Sleepy Koontz. Together they had three children, John, David and Barbara. Clarence died in 1956. Marge then met and married Wendell Thacker, a widower with a small son. In their lives together Marge and Wendell made many friends, especially in Bozeman and Great Falls.Marge worked as a bookkeeper at an office machine store and a clothing store, and eventually obtained her license to sell real estate, but primarily she was a homemaker.Upon Wendells retirement in 1979, Marge and Wendell embarked on years of travel, eventually seeing all 50 states and visiting places all over the world. They were in Mexico and Canada as well as India, Africa, China, New Zealand, Australia, Costa Rica, and Europe.Marge is survived by her three children, John Koontz, David (Robin) Koontz and Barbara (Michael) Habets; grandchildren Cindy Peterson, Jenny Holt, Joe Koontz and Stephen Habets; as well as, seven great-grandchildren; in addition to nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by husbands, Clarence Koontz and Wendell Thacker; stepson Bruce Thacker; and granddaughter Amy Habets.No services are planned at this time.
