Marcia "Marcy" Lee Duffner

Marcia “Marcy” Lee Duffner passed away on June 17, 2023, in Great Falls, MT at the age of 78. Marcia was born on December 15, 1944, in Coleman, Texas to Oris William and Joie (Doggett) Norwood. She was a 1962 Coleman High School graduate and attained her bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1966 from Tarleton State College, Stephensville, Texas. She furthered her education by attaining her master’s degree in human services at the College of Great Falls in 1990.

Marcia began her teaching career in Duncanville, Texas. Eventually, she retired from the Great Falls Public School system, with the majority of those years working as a fourth-grade teacher at Sunnyside Elementary. Marcia highly valued education and, notably, became a member of Mensa in 1993.

Marcia was preceded in death by the love of her life and second husband, Donald Duffner. They married on June 15, 2001, and had many grand adventures together including journeys to Hawaii, Europe, and various road trips in their motorhome. They also enjoyed restoring classic cars with one another. It was always a challenge to keep up with their latest projects.

Marcia was an incredibly smart and talented woman. She loved learning and was a formidable opponent to in all things trivia. She also enjoyed woodcarving, watercolors, oil painting, tile painting, sewing, crocheting, stained glass work, and quilting. She blessed many with her homemade, stitched Christmas cards. Her love of gardening cultivated many beautiful flowers and delicious tomatoes. Additionally, her canine companions brought her joy throughout the years.

Marcia is survived by her son, Edward Adams; daughter, Amy (Michael) Paquette; five dearly loved grandchildren, Brandon, Ellie, Megan, David, and Michael; sister, Judy Creek; niece, Lisa Molina; and nephew, Bradley Creek.

A public memorial service is scheduled for July 22, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Crossroads Memorial Church in Great Falls. A reception will follow. Please honor Marcia by driving your classic car to the service.
