Marge Margie Ann Brewer Salo, 86, of Great Falls, passed away on June 9, 2017.She was born to Earl and Gertrud Faye Brewer on August 20, 1930 in Fort Benton. Marge joined her older siblings, Elizabeth, Bernice, Wallace, and Helen at the family farm in Geraldine. Younger sister, Alberta, joined the family nine years later. Younger brother, Charles, passed away in infancy.Marge attended schools in Geraldine where she was a star athlete and a member of the State Championship girls basketball team. She attended Montana State University before meeting the love of her life, Gary Cork Salo, at a country-dance. Gary and Marge were united in marriage on November 28, 1948. They moved to the family ranch in Cascade where they raised their children, Terry and Cindy.Marge was active in the Cascade community where she was the choir director at the Cascade United Methodist Church and leader for the Chesnut Valley 4-H Club. She loved business and helped run both the family ranch and real estate businesses in Cascade. She was also top saleswoman for Dale Stapp and loved to play the stock market. She raised four boys from other homes; Monte Sloan, Charles Simonsen, Robert McDonald, and Gary Lehnerz. No task was ever too big for her and she had a pioneering spirit.Gary and Marge moved to Great Falls in 1978. She was a member of the Meadow Lark County Club where she won multiple golfing tournaments and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She was a member of the Valley Community Bible Church. She will be remembered for her strength and integrity.Marge has been reunited with her mother, Gertrud Brewer; father Earl Brewer; brothers Charles Brewer and Wallace Brewer; sister-in-law LaHoma Brewer; sister Helen Buck; brother-in-law Jack Stephenson; son-in-law Robert Malisani; and others.She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Gary Salo; sisters Elizabeth Stephenson, Bernice Beck and Alberta Grefsrud; brother-in-law Gary Grefsrud; daughter Cindy Malisani; son Terry (Judy) Salo; grandsons Scott (Allison) Salo, Dirk Salo, Jack (Marnie) Malisani, Nick (Jessica) Salo; and granddaughter Rose Malisani. She is also survived by her great-granddaughters Madelyn, Ava, Julianna, Teagan, Laney, Tana, and Shali; as well as many nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at the ranch in Cascade at a later date.
