Margaret "Margo" Blanche Howerton Goyette

October 30, 1927 — August 17, 2021

For 93 years, the world was blessed with the presence of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, Margaret “Margo” Blanche Goyette of Great Falls, MT. She left this world in the early morning on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, while camping with family at Canyon Ferry.Funeral services are set for Friday, August 27, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at New City Church with a reception to follow. Margaret was born in Great Falls on October 30, 1927, to Laura and Elmer Howerton. When their marriage failed, Margaret was taken by her father to be raised by her aunt and uncle, Al and Lillian “Mom” Hansen. Margaret attended Great Falls High School until her sophomore year when the family moved to Cascade where she graduated from high school. It was there she met her future husband while attending a dance. She asked a classmate and her future sister-in-law, Ethel Goyette, “Who is that? I want to meet him!” The rest is history!George and Margaret were married in December of 1946 and renewed their vows 50 years later. They were married 68 years before George passed away in 2011. After George passed, Margaret lived with her daughter, Alma who was not only a daughter, but also a best friend and instrumental in keeping her busy, safe, and at home. Margaret was very active in her lifetime. She loved working as a nurse’s aide and as a ward secretary at the Deaconess Hospital until an auto accident in 1975. After that she filled her time with family activities, making many beautiful wedding cakes, golfing at the Anaconda Hills Golf Course, volunteering at Missouri River Manor, bowling, and filling her summer months with camping and fishing. As her health and mobility started failing, the camping and fishing continued. Her sons, Dan and Steven, and family friend, Jerry Ulmen lifted her in and out of the boat and celebrated her catching fish. Her daughter, Alma took her camping frequently to meet up with Steven, granddaughter, Kimette, and family at Seeley Lake. Margaret was an excellent seamstress who sewed a wedding gown for Audrey, made many, many dresses for her granddaughters, and even at age 90, made 27 quilts to give to her family for Christmas. She was a very talented, self-taught landscape painter.A devout Christian, she was active in Bible studies, retreats, and other church activities. She was so proud of all her children and was especially proud when son, Larry became a minister. She loved Jesus and enjoyed time with her church family. Margaret is survived by her four children, Alma Sharette, Danny (Audrey), Steven, Larry (Michele) Goyette; eight beloved grandchildren, Kimette (Steve) Giard, Janell Kirchhefer, Stacey (Pat) Zadow, Mark (Jamie) Goyette, Melanie (Kevin) Endejan, Caleb (Sydney) Goyette, Naomi (Neal) Schranz, and Joel Goyette; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are her sister-in-law, Ethel Byrnes; brother-in-law, Ed Goyette; special friends, Sandy and Jerry Ulmen, Mickey Walker, and Barbara Lee Raynes. The family would like to acknowledge Gerry Westereng and Sydney Goyette for all the “extras” they have done for her.Margaret was preceded in death by her husband George; foster brother Frank (Ruby) Wallace; and her “adopted” son, Kenny Williams.
