Margaret "Maggie" Beth Wieder

July 5, 1957 — October 9, 2018

Margaret Beth Wieder “Maggie,” 61, of Dearborn, passed away October 9, 2018 A memorial service will be Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Schnider Funeral is handling arrangements. Maggie was born July 5, 1957 in Big Sandy, Montana to Buster and Rose Marie Brown and was raised in Great Falls. She was one of seven children. She attended Saint Mary’s Catholic Elementary. In high school she was involved in Upward Bound and graduated from CMR. She played the flute in school and in church. She was an excellent student and was known for her love of reading. Maggie worked at various positions in her life. Most recently, for the Nutrition Program at Cascade County Aging Services, which she did for ten years. Soon after high school, she met John Houle, whom she later married. The couple had two children, Ranae Alice and Martin Ray. Although they later separated, she and John raised their children together and always remained friends. Maggie attended Northern Montana College in Havre. She later returned to the Great Falls area and met the love of her life, Sid Wieder. They were married August 25, 1990 and made their home in the Dearborn. Maggie loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener. She and Sid built a green house on their property in which they produced a glorious harvest. She regularly shared with their neighbors, friends, and family. She had many friends and loved ones. She will be remembered for her dependability and a generous spirit. Whenever something came up, some family event, someone who needed a hand, or some predicament, she was always there ready to roll up her sleeves and get whatever needed doing done. Likely she'd be talking the whole time about something or other, but meanwhile stuff would get handled. She was beautiful, her laugh, her smile and her heart. She was a great listener, and could offer good advice. Maggie was a lover of animals, especially cats. It wasn’t too long ago that she aided in the effort to control the problem of community cats in Cascade. She gathered the felines, via live traps and facilitated the spaying and neutering and then releasing them back to where they came from. Her dedication to her children and her grandchildren was insurmountable. She will be missed. Maggie is survived by her husband Sid, of Dearborn; two children, Ranae Houle of Great Falls and Martin Houle of Billings; grandchildren Alissa Zapata of Helena and Devan Dalve of Great Falls; one brother, Perry (Ruth) Brown of Chinook; four sisters, Marilou (Pat) Hatler and Teresa Wright, both of Great Falls, Rosie (Craig) Wilson of Lakeside and Betty (Herbie) LaFountain-Couture of Pablo; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Mona Brown Galyan.
