Maida Gilbert

Maida P. (Smith) Gilbert, 78, of Great Falls, a cottage attendant, died of colon cancer on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at a local care facility.At her request no services are planned. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.Maida was born in 1933 in Great Falls, MT; where she spent most of her life expect for a short time that she lived in Missoula, MT.She worked for Houseman Inc.; The Urseline Centre caring for the elderly Nuns, and The Deaf and The Blind School as a cottage attendant.Maida was a member of the Central Assembly of God Church in Great Falls.Maida was a caregiver; as long as she had someone to take care of, she was happy.Even in her last year of her life, she worried about the other residents on her unit at Benefis Extended Care Center.She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.Maida is survived by her daughters, Lois (Del) Geary of Great Falls, Gineve Gilbert of Beaverton, OR, and Jan (Jeff) Tetemanza of Brookville, PA; her sons, Barry (Judy) Gilbert of Faulkner, NY, and Stewart (Lisa) Gilbert of Hillsboro, OR; brothers Jack (Anna) Smith of Fresno CA and Terry (Marj) Smith of Billings; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her father and mother W. Kile and Myrtle Smith.
