Magdalene M. (Von Bank) Kirby, 91, a teacher, and former resident of Stanford, died of natural causes on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at a local care facility.A vigil service will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Stanford on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Stanford, Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Stanford Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Magdalene was born to Mikel H. and Mary A. Von Bank on July 22, 1920 in Buffalo, ND. She graduated from St. Catherine's High School in Valley City, ND and went on to earn a teaching degree. She was a teacher in North Dakota and Washington for eight years. She married Patrick J. Kirby on June 25, 1947. She enjoyed playing Bridge, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.Magdalene is survived by her sons, Mikel P. (Mary) Kirby of Stanford, Jeffrey A. Kirby of Helena, and Ken E. Kirby of Bozeman; a sister Bonita Knable of Battleground, WA; six grandchildren, Heather M. Kirby, Jessica M. Kirby, Brandon M. Kirby, Kellen M. Kirby, Kevin W. Kirby and Ian P. Kirby.She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick J. Kirby; a brother Leon Von Bank and a sister Estelle Miller.Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
