Mabel Irene Greene Tripi, 75, of Great Falls, a retired 911 dispatcher, died on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at a local care center of natural causes. At her request no services will be planned. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Mabel Irene (Greene) Tripi was born on September 6, 1937 in Wellsville, New York to Joshua and Dorothy Greene. Mabel, better known as Irene, was the second youngest of nine children. Irene graduated for East Bakersfield High School in California and went to work for E. F. Hutton Stockbrokers.She later joined her husband, Joe Tripi and both were commissioned police officers for the Bakersfield Police Department.She and Joe had three sons and a step-daughter together.The family moved to San Diego, CA, whereby Joe returned to active duty in the U.S. Navy and was transferred to Great Falls as a Navy recruiter.Irene went to work as a 911 dispatcher for the city of Great Falls.She retired after 20 years. Her main hobby was horses, of which she had two.She enjoyed traveling and managed to travel from coast to coast and border to border, after her retirement.She was involved in 4H and Boy Scouts when her sons were young and she was a member of the Quarter Horse Association.Irene is survived by her sons, Joseph (Tony) Tripi of Renton, WA, Victor A. Tripi of Canton, GA, and Jeremy A. Tripi of Great Falls; step-daughter Florence Ann Tina Tripi of Akron, PA; siblings, Marcus Greene, Gwen Jefferies both of Bakersfield, CA, of Duward Greene of Boulder, CO, and Ellen Monroe of Lithia Springs, GA.She was preceded in death by her parents, Joshua and Dorothy Greene; and four siblings.Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.
