LuVerne T Vern Myhre, 74, of Great Falls, went to his final resting place to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 15, 2015. Vern fought a courageous fight in which he stayed true to himself, and made everyone feel loved. He wrapped his arms around us, and held us tight, only hours before his final journey.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Schnider Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Vern was born June 22, 1941 in New London, Minnesota to Chester and Lyles Myhre. He spent his first eight years in Minnesota, until the family moved to Great Falls with the Great Northern Railroad. He grew up and was educated in Great Falls. At the young age 18, Vern met the love of his life, Bernadette. They married in 1963 and spent 52 beautiful years together, raising their family and enjoying life together.Vern worked as a proud Smelter man at the Anaconda Company for 20 years until its closure. He then spent the last 26 years as a cable technician. Vern enjoyed spending time with his family camping, listening to music, and riding motorcycles in the Little Belts. He instilled the love of motorcycles and old cars into not only his son and son-in-law, but many friends and family. Vern spent the last 19 years restoring his beloved 1969 Pontiac GTO, which could be spotted at many of the car shows in town.Vern was a beautiful, giving, hardworking man who loved his family and had a word of wisdom for all. He was his familys answer man and we will be lost without him.Vern is survived by his wife, Bernadette Myhre; son Steven (Laura) Myhre; daughter Lora (Ty) Keller; grandchildren Alyssa and Dylan Myhre and Allyson and Nicolas Keller; his two faithful companions, Riley and Buddy all of Great Falls. Vern is also survived by his brothers, Charles (Marge) Myhre of New Brunswick, GA and Wayne (Rosa) Myhre of Great Falls; sisters Janet (Dwayne) Haman of Bullhead City, AZ and Marianne (Rick) Whaley of Otterbein, IN; numerous brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews that all loved him dearly.Vern was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Lyles Myhre.Vern loved and adored his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends and will be greatly missed by all.In lieu of flowers please make donations to Peace Hospice.
