Lucille Sarah (Clark) Murray, 88 of Great Falls, died on Friday, January 11, 2013 of complications from a recent fall.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel.Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Lucille was born on the homestead near Fort Shaw to Ivory E. and Ida Clark on February 29, 1924, the youngest of six children. Lucille's father taught her to read before she started first grade at the age of five, and she was a voracious reader her entire life. She graduated from Fort Shaw High School in 1941 and went on to attend Montana State College graduating with honors. Lucille married William Raymond Ray Murray on December 15, 1942 in Bozeman.Lucille taught at Simms, Highwood, Belt, Havre and Boise, Idaho schools. For the thirteen years before her retirement, she taught home economics and was the librarian at Power High School. She belonged to NEA and Friendship Force traveling to England, Scotland, Italy, India, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Japan. As a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, she served as secretary, treasurer, Vice Regent and Regent.She was a Bobcat fan to the finish, tuning in to football games on Saturday afternoons. Lucille's hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, playing the piano, and she was an avid painter. She loved cats and four years ago rescued Rusty , a large orange and white cat. She was a life long member of the Congregational Church. Aunt Lucille treasured her freedom and independence until the very end and maintained a busy social calendar including lunch with her Lunch Bunch each week.She is survived by many nieces and nephews.Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray; her brothers, Cyrus, Harold, and Ralph; and sisters, Frances and Dora.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lucille's name to the Murray/Fleming Scholarship Fund, DAR, 1409 14th Str.
