Lillian "Carol" Duquette

December 1, 1936 — May 15, 2019

Our precious mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lillian “Carol” Duquette, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, from complications due to Alzheimer’s. She was born on December 1, 1936, to Tom and Lillian Ward in Siloam Springs, AR. With her southern charm, warm smile, and energetic laugh, Carol was loved by all who knew her. She was fast friends with nearly everyone that she encountered. Carol spent her childhood in Arkansas and Oklahoma. At the age of 18, Carol decided to join the Air Force. When signing up, the recruiter, Richard Duquette, asked her for a date, and rather than joining the military, Carol married Richard in 1954 and started a life of travel and adventure for her and her family. Carol and Richard moved to Joplin, MO, and had their first son, Richard Duquette, Jr. in 1956 and their second son, Michael in 1958 shortly after being transferred to Madrid, Spain. Together the family lived around the world in California, England, New Jersey, the Philippines, Texas, and Kansas. In 1974, the Duquettes were transferred to Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, MT and were able to buy their first house—even though they had been married for nearly 20 years. Carol loved living in Great Falls, and she and Richard were finally able to settle in one place and enjoy their family and friends. She was a very loving mother to her sons and a vibrant and caring grandmother to all of her grandsons. Time with Grandma and Grandpa was always a special treat for them, and holidays were especially joyful. Carol would continue to live in Great Falls even after she lost her husband in 2009. In 2016, she moved to Post Falls, ID in order to be closer to her family, and to have assistance for living with the challenges of Alzheimer’s. She lived at Guardian Angels for the past 3 years, and with her warm and caring nature, she was a favorite of many of the residents and staff. She will be sorely missed by many. Carol is survived by her son, Richard (Margo) Duquette of Grand Forks, ND and grandsons, Joel of Dover, DE and William of Moorhead, MN; son, Michael (Deloris) Duquette of Spokane, WA and grandsons, Wesley (Laurel), of Manhattan Beach, CA, Casey (Michelle) of Santa Rosa, CA, and Tyler (Rachel) of Portland, OR. She is also survived by her great-grandsons, Rhett and Walker Duquette of Manhattan Beach, CA.
