Lester was born in Billings, MT on Feb. 14, 1950, to Arthur and Marie Larsen. He adored spending time with his sister, Connie Powell, and his aunt, Grace Brown. He enjoyed spending time with his grandparents, Lester and Sally Brown at their place in the mountains. He loved to fish and hunt with his grandfather as often as he could. His love of fishing and the outdoors led him to his favorite job as a fishing guide in Jackson Hole, WY. He would regale everyone with his stories of the adventures and friendships he had and made while there. He met is wife, Pamela Jeanne Howell in Powell, WY. They were married in 1972. That same year they had their beloved daughter Kristy. In 1978 they had their other adored daughter, Casey. Les joined the Army in 1972 and served for 3 years as a supply specialist. He was stationed in Texas and was deployed to Germany during the Vietnam war. He often spoke of the many wonderful people he met while in the military. After retiring from the military, Les drove a beer delivery truck. During his driving time he would come up with lyrics to songs. When he would get home, he would write them all down. He has over 45 songs that he has written and shared with his family. He left driving and worked for Amoco, which took his family to Evanston, WY. He met many amazing people while working there. From there his family moved to Great Falls, MT where he and Pam bought a furniture refinishing business. After an unfortunate fire at the shop, he began working for FedEx, traveling all over Montana, into Idaho and Wyoming to work on drop boxes. He retired in 2020. His interests included spending as much time a possible with his grandson, Hunter. He was so elated to pass on the knowledge and skills his grandfather gave to him. Spending time with his grandson were some of the greatest and most treasured memories he had. One of his favorite days was being present when Hunter caught his first fish. Les loved to snowmobile with his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, watching old westerns and football. He enjoyed working on sudoku, crossword, and jigsaw puzzles.
