Lester W. Finneman, 89, of Great Falls, MT, a retired warehouse manager for 24 years and veteran of the Army Air Corps, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015.A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 14 at 11:00 AM at Central Assembly of God Church. Interment in Hillcrest Lawn Mausoleum will follow the service. Cremation has taken place under the care of Schnider Funeral Home.Lester was born March 24, 1926 in Aylmer, North Dakota. He grew up in North Dakota and attended elementary school and graduated from high school there. He attended and graduated from flying school in Great Falls, where he received a commercial pilots license.He married Solveig Hundseid in Great Falls in 1959. To their union they had two children, Sonja and Glen. Les and Solveig had 55 wonderful years together.Lester entered the Army Air Corps in August 1944 and was discharged in June 1946. HE worked for the Great Northern Railroad as a depot operator from 1946 to 1947. HE was a partner in the first Phillips 66 Service Station in Great Falls, 1948 to 1951. He also was a warehouse manager for Phillips Petroleum from 1952 to 1967. HE worked as a stationary engineer for the Great Falls school district from 1976 until his retirement in 1987. He operated his own Ham Radio and even prospected for uranium.Lester was a member of Central Assembly of God Church and the Sons of Norway Lodge. He loved to travel to all parts of the world with his wife. He liked to go fishing, hunting and camping with family. Lester played music with friends in nursing homes and churches. He also sand with church choirs and especially enjoyed singing duets with his daughter, Sonja. God was a very important part of his life. He loved God and serving Him in many different ways. He loved his family and friends, he will be sorely missed.Survivors include his beloved wife, Solvieg Finneman of Great Falls; son Glen Finneman and wife Lark, of Santa Fe, TX; daughter Sonja Rohan of Hartford, SD. Sisters Hazel Smith of Minot, ND; and Darlene Shaw of Columbia, MO. Sister-in-law Amanda Finneman of Great Falls. Grandchildren Jonathan, Heidi, Jacob, Olivia and Grace Rohan all of Hartford, SD.He was preceeded in death by his parents, Peter and Emma Finneman; brothers Ruben, Leroy, Elmer and Fred; sisters Helen, Ethel, Margaret and Laurene; son-in-law David Rohan.In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Central Assembly of God.
