Lester “Bud” Adkins, 90, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017 after a prolonged illness. Bud was born October 26, 1927 in Portage, Montana to father William Ladle Adkins and mother Alma Ruth (Prinzing) Adkins. He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1947. Bud met his future wife, Vonnie Sanders and they married on July 22, 1950. He worked at Bofto Upholstery and then moved on to work at the Modern Cabinet Shop. In May 1970, he became the executive director of MT Federal Credit Union, formerly the GF CoOperative Credit Union. Bud retired at the age of 62 in December of 1989. Bud spent his leisure time woodworking, making stained glass, gardening, camping and fishing. Bud is survived by his wife of 67 years, Vonnie; six children, Doug (Rosemary) of Bremerton, WA, David of Great Falls, MT; Aline (Wayne) Rohde of Spokane, WA, Gail (Joe) McGillis of Richland, KY, Russell (Donna) of Estacada, OR, and Brian (Jan) of Spokane, WA; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. No services are planned at this time. A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2018. The family request donations in Bud’s honor be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.
