Leo G. Hansen, 94, retired owner of Hansens Nursery and Landscaping passed away December 17, 2015 of natural causes.Leo was born November 9, 1921 in Tacoma, Washington to Susie and Leo Hansen. Leo was the oldest of four children and is preceded in death by his wife Helen, parents, and three sisters.In his early years, Leo worked nights at a local dairy and did landscaping jobs during the day. In 1948, at 27 years old, Leo started his first landscaping business. Hansens Nursery and Landscaping was formed when he added a tree business in 1952, which served Great Falls for over 50 years. Leo was very proud that he kept many of the same employees for a majority of those years.Leo met Helen Myre in 1975 and soon was married and adopted into the father role for a family of 7.Leo would often talk about having a great life. He was very proud of the many businesses he landscaped through his career. At any family gathering, you could count on a very detailed history lesson about people, places, and companies in Great Falls. His memory for details was amazing and it always enthralled and captivated the imaginations of his Grandchildren. With a twinkle and a grin, Leo would always say- I did it my way.The last six years of his life, Leos motivation and joy was planting and growing a better garden than his beloved daughter, Linda.At his request, no services will be held and cremation has taken place
