Lawrence Spezio, 74, a resident of Great Falls since 2000, succumbed at his home July 4, 2013.A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Highland Cemetery.Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Lawrence was born in New York City, New York on December 30, 1938. Lawrence attended Montana State University in Missoula and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and a commission in the Army. After serving his tour of duty, he returned to the United States, to marry, raise a family and pursue a career in insurance business administration. He continued in this career as well as in his own tax return filing business until his move to Great Falls in 2000. Lawrence is survived by his wife from his first marriage, Eva M. Handwerk, originally from Niedergruendau, Germany; their three children, Stefan R. Spezio, who teaches English Literature at Dutchess County Community College in Poughkeepsie, NY, daughter, Christina Urbaniak, who lives with her husband and her daughter, Emily Rosenberg, in Horseheads, NY, and son, Michael L. Spezio, who is married and teaches psychology and neuroscience at Scripps College in Claremont, CA.He is also survived by his wife from his second marriage, Maria Spezio of Great Falls; and siblings Anthony Spezio and Marianne Ealer of Laurel, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Sara Spezio.
