Laura OMeara, 65, of Great Falls, formerly of Teigen, Montana passed away on July 4th, 2015 after a lengthy illness.No services are planned per her request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.Laura was born to Laurence and Elizabeth (Van Pelt) Staples on June 15, 1950 in Frederic, Wisconsin. The year she turned 5 they moved to Roy, Montana. She graduated from Roy High School and then went onto Billings Business College where she took business related classes.Laura married Ardell Joe Joseph O'Meara on a beautiful yet snowy September 12, 1970 in Lewistown. She worked a majority of her life at Teigen, mainly as the ranch cook but was also the Postmaster until the USPS shut down the small one room post office in the 1990s. During this time, she occasionally would perform music at various functions, including singing at the funeral of Ronnie Olson of Winnett, who was a very close family friend in the late 1990s.In 2010, she and Joe made their way to Great Falls to be closer to their son and especially their grandkids. Her pride and joy after leaving Teigen, were her two grandchildren Myles and Helyn.Even after leaving the ranch, Laura had a love for cooking and baking, thought it was never anything fancy. She was well known for her cinnamon rolls and fresh baked bread. She was also a great Scrabble player, who at one point was nationally ranked by the Scrabble Association.She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Fred and Patrick Staples, sister, Gail Wahl and her beloved husband Joe.Laura is survived by her sister Sally Holmes of Page, AZ; brother, Warren Staples; son Joe (Alicia); grandchildren Myles and Helyn OMeara; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Seattle Childrens Hospital to either the Autism or Brachial Plexus wings.
