Larry Theisen, 79, of Great Falls, passed away on April 1, 2016 at a local hospital.Larry was born on March 18, 1937 in Wadena, Minnesota to Nicholas Nick and Louella (Jenkins) Theisen. He attended grade school and two years of high school at Wadena before moving with his famiy to Great Falls. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1955 and attended the University of Great Falls. Larry joined the Montana Air National Guard and was honorably discharged. He worked at the ACM Co, the railroad, and several bowling centers before he became the manager of Aces High Bowling Center on Malmstrom AFB. He retired after working there for over 30 years.He participated in many bowling tournaments throughout the state. He bowled a perfect score of 300 more than once during his bowling career. He was also a member of the Professional Bowling Association during this time.Larry learned skiing later in life and became a certified ski instructor through the Professional Ski Instructor program. He enjoyed being Santa Claus at Christmas time, handing out candy on the ski slopes of Showdown for more than 20 years. He did this yearly during the Christmas season. Larry also enjoyed golf. He was an honorary member of the UGF Argo Golf Club the 2004 to 2005 Inaugural season.He successfully restored a 1935 antique truck by himself, and was a member of the Skunkwagon Car Club. Larry was an avid hunter and loved to watch the annual migration of the snow geese to Freezeout Lake. He enjoyed many sports including water skiing, bowling, golf, downhill skiing, goose hunting, and fly fishing during his lifetime.He always showed an interest in other people. He was a very compassionate person, willing to do anything he could to help other people.Larry is survived by his brother, Steve Theisen; sisters Beatrice Hoxter, Rosemary (Bruce) Taylor, and Barbara (Loyall) Kissee; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Louella; brother Robert Theisen; and niece Kimberly Theisen, infant daughter of Steve Theisen and his wife Montana (deceased).Memorials in Larrys name may be made to the charity of the donors choice.Per Larrys request, no services are being planned. Cremation has taken placed under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.
