Kirk Doc Allen Seekins, 79, veterinarian, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in the care of his loving family, Park Place Nursing Home and Peace Hospice.Kirk Doc was born June 1, 1935 in Kalispell, Montana to Allen Seekins and Helen (Kirkpatrick) Seekins. Growing up in Sunburst, Havre, and Geraldine, he was instilled with a love of a great day of fishing, Montana, and Western culture that lasted a lifetime. After serving two years in the army and earning the title of being a Korean War Veteran, he graduated from Montana State University in Agriculture, working briefly as an agronomist until obtaining his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Washington State University. Having his board certification in California and Montana he started practicing in 1962. In 2014, Dr. Seekins was honored by the Montana Veterinary Medical Association for his years of service.As a celebrated artist, he is known for his bronze sculptures that became sponsored by Fort Dodge Laboratories to tour across the United States, his oil painting in the First Peoples Buffalo Museum, and playing piano in his bowler hat while entertaining with hymns, traditional dance and jazz music of his time. He is remembered for his eclectic and broad understanding of veterinary medicine, love of animalsboth wild and domestic, faith, music, art, photographic memory, red-faced laughs, simple jokes and booming sneezes.Dr. Seekins is survived by his wife, Nora Kullberg Seekins; 2 sisters, Sharie (Bob) Temperly and Sue (Ron) Christensen; 5 children, Laura (Alan) Hughes, Jon Seekins, Lidia (Brett) Koppel, Sara (Bryce) Graft, and Bob Seekins; and 4 grandchildren, Alex Hughes, Davis Koppel, Taea Koppel and Greta Graft.He was a patriot, a dreamer, a debater, a story teller, devoted to the Lord.
