Kim Darlene Riggin

October 21, 1957 — March 8, 2018

Kim Darlene Riggin passed away peacefully March 8, 2018 with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. At her request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her amazing life will take place at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Kim was born on October 21, 1957 in Great Falls, Montana to Dale and Janice Riggin. She graduated from C.M. Russell High School in 1976. Kim loved family, the outdoors, especially during springtime, gardening, rock collecting and polishing, stained glass work, Christmas, singing, making people smile, creating fantastic landscapes, dressing up as a clown and ballooning people on special occasions. She was the maker of memories; memories that will never leave the lives of everyone that knew her. She brought so much joy to everyone in her life. Everybody that came across her vividly remember her radiating light and infectious smile; she loved to laugh. From a paintbrush and canvas to a voice like an angel, her talents were endless. She was a jack of all trades and a master of all. During the spring and summer, Kim could be found in her garden creating her latest masterpiece with the perfect combination of flowers, rocks, and soil. The landscapes she created were truly magnificent, and she had a special relationship with the beautiful creations that she nurtured from the ground up. She was an unapologetic rock hound and never missed an opportunity to bring home another unique and beautiful rock. Family and friends even became ‘deputy’ rock hounds, constantly on the lookout for the perfect rock to bring her. They would often heave these dense treasures over unreasonable distances in anticipation of her reaction to their latest find. Above all, she was proud of being a mother. She loved her children and grandchildren with all of her heart and protected them fiercely. It was a role that she was meant to play, and she embraced it completely. She was not afraid to laugh at herself and her enthusiasm for life drew others close to her. A young, fresh spirit resided in her, even up to her last days. She lit up every room she entered with her endearing nature and warm smile. She had the ability to lighten any mood with a funny, sometimes inappropriate joke, or a loving embrace. She was a loving and protective mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; very creative, kind, understanding, determined, tough as nails and an absolute wonder. Kim lived in many places, experienced many things and touched many lives while on her journey She is survived by her mother and father; brothers Doug (Connie) Riggin, Randy (Julie) Riggin, Bruce Riggin; her children, Derek (Sara) Brown, Nikki Breen, Ryan (Amy) Brown, Laci (Zebb) Gage; grandchildren Shea Breen, Miles Gage, Meryl Brown, Russell Brown; and an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Kim is preceded in death by a baby sister; and brothers Kent Riggin and Dean Riggin.
