On March 10, 2015 our beautiful Keely passed away peacefully holding the hand of the love of her life. Though we will miss her beyond words, we will forever remember and pass on the love, humor, strength, selflessness and compassion she brought to our lives.Keely was born on October 10, 1958 in Cut Bank, Montana. Her family moved to Columbia Falls during her youth. She was always a Montana girl at heart - fishing, hiking and running the dirt roads of Northwestern Montana. Keely was a good worker, holding down a job in high school, while maintaining excellent grades. She was also an adventurous spirit and found many ways to enjoy her friends and surroundings all throughout her life. After high school, Keely moved to Great Falls and graduated nursing school. Nursing proved to be the perfect profession for her. Her organization skills, dedication and ability to work well under pressure landed her a job on the open heart surgery team fresh out of school. During her time scrubbing and eventually assisting, Keely developed a close bond with her team members, who eventually became some of her best friends. She also developed a reputation for being a muticulous and hard worker. We have constantly been told how remarkably good at her job she was, and how everyone enjoyed working along side her. Over the course of her career she worked in various positions around Great Falls. She always loved nursing and missed it when she could no longer work.Keely was incredibly compassionate and caring, but carried strength and resolve. It was these qualities that called her to volunteer in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake crisis. She would forever remember her trip to Haiti as one of the hardest, yet rewarding things she had done. She was very proud of her work there, as was all her friends and family.Keely maintained her adventurous spirit throughout her whole life. Her greatest joys were exploring Montana (and the world) with her husband. From something as simple as gardening in their backyard, to a trip in their little motor home in the mountains of Montana, to tropical getaways in Mexico, Keely cherished experiencing life and adventure alongside her husband. He was her true love. There was nothing in life more important to Keely than her children and grandchildren. She devoted herself to loving and guiding them from the time they were born until her last days. The unconditional love and support she showed them was and will continue to be the ultimate gift they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.Keely loved sunshine, mermaids, reading, her dog Hazel, camping and fishing. In fact, she was often the one to catch the most fish of the group. She had a fondness for little critters like squirrels, birds and rabbits. She loved spoiling her kids and grandkids on every little holiday. She especially adored Halloween and would dress up every year to hand out candy to the neighborhood kids. Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park held a special place in her heart. Her family and friends were lucky to enjoy many special trips with her there.Through her three years of fighting cancer, Keely continually proved her tough spirit, selfless generosity, hearty sense of humor and unconditional love the entire time. She spent her final years living to her fullest by traveling as much as possible with her husband, creating beautiful quilts for friends and family, spending priceless time with her children and grandchildren and keeping the birdies and squirrels in her neighborhood well fed. She continued to spread love and laughter. Even on her sickest days, she never stopped being selfless, always giving the best of herself to those around her. She was a beautiful soul that will be missed by so many.Keely leaves behind friends and family who will love and miss her always. In lieu of flowers, please consider passing along a kind gesture to a stranger, going out of your way to help someone who needs it or feeding the little critters of your neighborhood.
