Karen Motil

November 22, 1939 — February 22, 2024

Karen Motil was born on November 22,1939, and passed away on February 22, 2024.

She was not a frilly kind of girl. She grew up out in the Gulch. Sand Coulee and Centerville were her stomping grounds. She worked for U.S. Bank after graduating and stayed put for her entire career. She stopped a couple times to have two girls, Debbie. She played softball, and Debbie was the bat girl for the team. She and her friends would bowl in tournaments in small towns all over Montana. This meant stopping at all the little bars going to and coming from the bowling tournament. They always had a blast. I am not sure how the bowling went, but they had a good time.  After bowling and softball stopped, she started her golf career. She took off with a vengeance and loved the game. She won the Ladies City Golf Championship one year. She always compared herself to Nancy Lopez. She played whenever she could.  Debbie remembers going with her to play a round once and it was snowing. She was not going to stop.

She enjoyed playing cards with the girls at the Senior Center and her group of friends that would have their "poker parties" once a month. That group of friends did everything together, trips, dinners, birthdays, and always having a great time.  She worked part time at Sam's as a food demo person. She loved talking to people, and it gave her something to do.

She enjoyed her two grandsons, John and Steven.  She got them started with golf. She had 2 great-granddaughters from John and Elizabeth, Charlotte and Rosalyn. They did not understand why she kept repeating herself when they talked because she was starting to slip and the Alzheimer's was starting. She won't get to meet her first great grandson, Bryson. He is due this spring to Steven and Bailey.

The family knows she will be watching over them. There will be a memorial planned, and the family will spread her ashes per her request.

She is survived by Debbie; brother, Darrell; grandchildren, John, and Steven; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Rosalyn; and baby to be, Bryson.  Thank you all for knowing and loving Karen through her years.
