June (Sharp) Miller, 88, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Sunday, October 23, 2011, at a local hospital.Visitation will be held at Schnider Funeral Home from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2011, at Schnider Funeral Home. A vigil service will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 1, 201, at 7 p.m., with visitation beginning at 6 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Inurnment will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery at a later date. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.June S. Miller was born May 26, 1923, to John and Anna (Hefferle) Sharp in Lewiston Montana, where she was raised and educated, graduating Fergus County High School.Right out of high school she began working for the United States Department of Agriculture and continued to work there, in various positions, for the next 54 years. In her position as a loan officer, she helped finance numerous facilities, including water systems, senior centers and housing in communities throughout central Montana. She enjoyed working to help small Montana communities and as a result of her dedication, received many commendations during her career.June was active in her community and church, serving as a Union Labor Representative and on various boards. She believed in her civic duties and never missed an election. She was very involved as a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and was in Catholic Daughters, where she was generous in lending her many talents to worthy causes and was always willing to help.June met Peter M. Miller and they were married on May 20, 1950. Together they worked and lived in Great Falls, raising their two daughters, Anna Marie and Margaret June. She loved her family and took excellent care of them, making sure they had whatever they needed. In addition to her loving family, June had many friends who will miss her dearly. She is the last of the great generation who did so much for so many.Survivors included her daughters, Anna Miller and husband Lyle Manley of Helena and Margaret Miller and husband Randy Wortman of Great Falls; grandchildren Jeremy Slaats and Jonathon Slaats of Great Falls and Jennifer Slaats of San Antonio, Texas.June was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Peter Miller; her five brothers, John, Joseph, Alexander, Daniel and William; and one sister, Maryann.
