June Thornette (Jaap) Berg, 84, of Great Falls, a retired information desk officer, died Monday, May 6, 2013 at Peace Hospice of natural causes.A graveside service will be held at 1:00 on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Belt Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Montclair United Methodist Church in Belt. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.June Thornette (Jaap) Berg was born on June 5, 1928 to John Jaap and Dolla Jaap-Williamson at home in Belt. She graduated from Belt Valley High School in 1946 and married Melvin Berg on November 25, 1948.She worked at Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph and was a Belt school secretary from 1976 to 1983. After moving to Great Falls in February of 1984 she worked at the Montana Deaconess Hospital from 1985 to 1995 as an information desk officer until she retired.June was a member of the Great Falls Senior Citizens Center, where she served as president for several terms, Eagles Auxiliary, AARP, Belt Senior Citizens, Montclair Methodist Church in Belt, and Belt Rebekas.She had a variety of hobbies that included cards, golf, bowling, downhill skiing, reading, and gardening.June is survived by two daughters, Vickie L. (Dale) Johnson of Belt and Sandra Kay (Mike) Stout of Anchorage, AK; a son, Leon (Deborah) Berg of Great Falls; a sister, Bobbie (John) Mital of Belt; five grandchildren, Jolyn (Scott) Kanning, Kori (Joe) Kerkes, Kevin Johnson, Amber (Jason) Stout and Matt Stout; and three great grandchildren, Ty, Ilah and Aleah.She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Berg; mother, Dolla Williamson; father John Jaap; two brothers Ralph and John Jaap; and a stepfather Robert Pep Williamson.Memorials are suggested to Great Falls Senior Citizens Center, 1004 Central Ave, Great Falls, MT 59401, Peace Hospice of Great Falls, 1101 26th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
