Judy Caroline Marie Johnson

August 10, 1945 — January 23, 2024

Judy Caroline Marie Johnson went to the angels while surrounded by her loved ones on January 23, 2024. She was born on August 10, 1945, in Great Falls, Montana to Delphine and Carl Tripp. Growing up on the west side, Judy graduated from Great Falls High, and was an excellent water skier and ice skater.

Judy was a devout Christian, and enjoyed a life filled with laughter and love, surrounded by a large and slightly rowdy family. She adored fishing (often out-fishing everyone else), spending time in the mountains, taking long drives in the countryside, gardening and working outside, baking bread in the Tripp family tradition, goofing off with her kids and grandkids, and making others laugh with her mischievous sense of humor. She very much loved riding and caring for her horses. Her career as a surgical technologist at St. Pat’s Hospital in Missoula brought her great joy.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joanne; and brothers, Dan, David, and George. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jerald A. Johnson; children, Lyra (Patrick) Kester, Dean (Sherry) Knaup, Jeffrey (Arlesia) Knaup, and Suzann (John) Ramos; stepchildren, Michael and Brenda Johnson; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Judy’s ashes will be scattered in the mountains in her favorite place this summer when the lupines are blooming, and the meadow grasses smell sweet.
