Joyce Adams

Joyce Lovon Bean Shaw Adams, 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 22, 2018 surrounded by her family. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 26, at the Augusta Community Church with a luncheon to follow at the Augusta Youth Center. Joyce was born November 3, 1946 in Great Falls, MT to Wallace Russell Bean and Fern Estill Bean. She was raised on the family ranch SW of Augusta and graduated from Augusta High School in 1965. She attended Montana State University for a time. Joyce married Virgil Shaw January 1967. After being stationed in numerous places with the Air Force, they settled in Great Falls and raised their 2 children Tonya and Darryl. Joyce worked for Montana Department of Child Support Enforcement for 16 years before retiring to the ranch in 1998. Joyce loved the outdoors. She spent countless hours riding horses, hiking, and taking pack trips. Joyce was a member of the Augusta Community Church and served many years as the secretary. She was also an active member of the Augusta Legion Auxiliary. Joyce met Brian Lents and they were married July 29, 2017. They shared a love of horses and the outdoors. Brian was her faithful companion thru the last difficult months of her life. Survivors include her husband Brian Lents, daughter Tonya Shaw, Boise ID, son Darryl Shaw, Atlanta, GA, and step-daughter Susie Emter and family, Billings, MT. She is also survived by her sister Betty Dofler, Augusta MT, and brother Bob (Marilou) Bean, Kalispell, MT, and a multitude of nieces, nephews and special friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands, Virgil Shaw and Jim Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Augusta Community Church Building Fund.
