Joseph Wilfred McMahon, 75, of Great Falls, a retired mortgage processor and USAF veteran, died Monday, February 11, 2013 at a local care facility of natural causes.At his request no services are planned. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Joseph was born on September 2, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from North Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He graduated from the University of Great Falls with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. He was in the Drum and Bugle Corp VFW 2819 until the age of 21.He was employed at the Snellenberg Department Store in the receiving department from 1956 to 1960.He married Colette Cookie in Philadelphia in 1971.He served in the US Air Force from 1960 to 1980, where he served two tours in England.He also served in Morocco and in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 during the Thet Offensive.After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at the Bus Depot for five years.He then worked at Circle K at night while going to UGF, where he received his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration.He worked with Citi Group for 15 years and volunteered at Benefis for four and 1/2 years.Joseph was a lifetime member of the VFW and on the neighborhood council for two years.He was an avid history reader; loved fishing, camping, and traveling; he was an avid hockey fan of the Great Falls Americans and the Philadelphia Flyers; he had dream vacations come true by traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, and the Winter Olympics in 2010. His favorite pastime was camping with his grandkids, Bridger and Bryson and traveling the Montana Dinosaur Trail.Joseph is survived by his wife Colette Cookie McMahon of Great Falls; his sons Patrick (Dawn) Shawn of Vista, CA, Andrew (Jenny) Kevin of Spokane Valley, WA, a sister Marg Oeschle of Levittown, PA; and two grandsons.He is preceded in death by his mother Mildred; his father, Wilfred; and his brother, Ron.Memorials are suggested to Meals on Wheels, 1620 12th Ave N, Great Falls, MT59401, and Make a Wish Foundation, PO Box 52435, Phoenix, AZ85072-2435.
