Joseph Antonis Maurantonio, 89, of Great Falls, passed away February 11, 2018 at Peace Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1410 13th St. S. Entombment will follow the service also at Hillcrest Lawn Mausoleum. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Joe was born and raised in Vaughn. He was one of seven children to Thomas and Lena Maurantonio. He attended local schools and graduated from Simms High School in 1950. After serving in the Korean War, he worked as a long haul truck driver for Great Northern Railroad for more than 30 years. In Joe’s later life, he had some health problems, but it didn’t stop him from constantly helping people. Boating, old cars, automobile projects, and tinkering in general were some of his many hobbies. He loved jazz music and lived for good food. His family was a huge part of his life. Joe will always be remembered for his generosity. He is survived by his brothers, Mike Maurantonio of Great Falls, MT and Nick Maurantonio of Billings, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Lena; sisters Rose Dector, Katherine Tabaracci, Grace Steffens and Stella Maurantonio; and special companion Roselinda “Tiny” Paulson.
