Joseph "Joe" Whitehead

Joseph Joe W. Whitehead, 68, of Great Falls, died on February 13, 2015 at Peace Hospice.Joe was born on January 14, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA to Harry and Grace (Whoriskey) Whitehead. He was a longtime resident of Pittsburgh and moved to Great Falls in October 2011. Joe served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. During his career he worked for Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation as a Quality Assurance Inspector, inspecting nuclear power plants in California, the east coast and mid-west.He enjoyed Steelers football, his family, and many friends at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.Joe is survived by his son James (Becky) Hendershot; 4 grandchildren Jennifer Hendershot, Sterling Menghini, Tayler and Kaylee Rate; two brothers, Harry (Alice) Whitehead of Florida and John (Pat) Whitehead of Vermont; numerous nieces and nephews; and his childhood friends Fred and Darlene Stowitzky of Pittsburgh.He was preceded in death by his brother George Whitehead of Chicago, IL and his parents Harry and Grace Whitehead of Pittsburgh, PA.A vigil service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at O'Connor Memorial Chapel. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
