John Conrad Walter, 85, passed away on December 31, 2021, in Great Falls, Montana. He was born in Oneida, NY on July 12, 1936, to Max and Barbara (Hiller) Walter. There will be no services at this time. John attended school in Oneida, graduating in 1954. After his graduation, he joined the Air Force. In 1959, John married Violet Marie Winter while stationed at Walker AFB, Roswell, NM. After serving in SAC, USAFE, and the AAC Commands, he was assigned to Malmstrom AFB. John retired from the Air Force after a 21-year career. John was also a part-owner of the old Bar-S on the Belt highway from 1976 to 2000, when he sold his share to the Evans family. In 1974 Violet passed away. John met Carolyn Cook, a nurse at Malmstrom at a Christmas dinner, and they began their romance. After a laughably long, long, long engagement, John and Carolyn were finally married on January 21, 2004.John and Carolyn enjoyed camping, fishing, meeting new friends over coffee, and ice cream at the 10th Avenue DQ. Carolyn passed away on December 12, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Violet and Carolyn; and sister, Ruth. John is survived by his son, Dan (Stayce) Cook, and grandson Tristan.
