John P Visocan

September 21, 1944 — March 21, 2022

John P. Visocan passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2022, with his family at his side. He was born on September 21, 1944, in Great Falls, Montana to parents Andrew Henry and Constance Holzfaster Visocan. One of six siblings, John spent his entire life on the family ranch in Raynesford, Montana. He graduated from Belt Valley High School in 1963. Shortly after graduating, John enlisted in the Montana Air National Guard and served for 6 years. In 1966, he married Carol Konecny, and together they had six children: Jeff, Jodi, John, Jamie, Joe, and Justin. He later divorced and found the love of his life, Linda Assels. Together, they would spend the next 24 years on the Visocan Ranch. John was devoted to his family’s ranching heritage. For over 65 years, he worked tirelessly to improve the land and maintain his herd. In addition to ranching, John served for 30 years as a volunteer firefighter in the Raynesford Fire Department, was a member of the National Farmers Organization (NFO), and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. At a young age, John learned the value of hard work and instilled this work ethic in each of his children. It is because of John’s efforts that the family ranch, established in 1907, continues operating today. John was proud to be a part of the Raynesford community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and cherished the life-long friendships that he built along the way. His door was always open, and the coffee was always on. John’s greatest treasure in life was his family, and he always looked forward to time spent making memories and sharing laughter with them.He will be remembered as a truly humble, kind, and caring soul. John was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew H. and Constance Visocan; and his siblings, Michael, Elizabeth “Libby,” and Andrew “Bud.” Those left to cherish John’s memory are his wife, Linda Assels; his children, Jeff (Carrie) Visocan, Jodi Gutzwiler, John “Janko” (Terri) Visocan, Jamie (Steve) Stahl, Joe (Andrea) Visocan, and Justin (Hannah) Visocan; step-children, Lisa (Alex) Watson and Daniel (Ashley) Assels; his grandchildren, Devan (Jake) Wieferich, Beth Visocan, Sam Dorendorf, Zeb Visocan, Katie Rose Stahl, Anna Pethel, Kirsten Dorendorf, Hailey Assels, Ella Pethel, Gracie Watson, Cliff Pethel, Haidyn Visocan, Nora Watson, Sam Assels, and Henry Assels; great-grandchildren, Trager Wieferich and Jacie Wieferich; siblings, Barbara Culliton and Lawrence (Betty) Visocan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
