John Robert Rodger passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Bee Hive Homes, after a long and hard fought battle with cancer, just 9 days short of his 93rd birthday. Per his request, no services are planned. A private family burial of ashes will be held at a later date. John was born January 15, 1926 to Allan and Violet Rodger in Great Falls, MT. He proudly served overseas in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. After his military service, he returned to Great Falls where he met and married his true love, Beverly Torgerson. They married on August 30, 1958 and were married for 60 years. John had a long career as a union plumber, working for many shops in Great Falls, before retiring at the age of 62. John is survived by his wife Beverly; sons Scott (Joni) Rodger and Jock Rodger; grandsons Garrett and Taylor Rodger, and Kyle and Cody Rodger; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Irene Rodger; nephews Bruce and Rob Rodger, and Scott and Rob Wilson; and niece Lynne Hammer. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Rodger; and sister Marion Wilson. John loved being surrounded by his family. He took great pleasure in inviting them over for a meal – even though he was not the one who had to do the cooking! Fishing was his favorite pastime and he had an inseparable love for his dogs over the years. He helped many people in his life, but was always too proud to accept any help in return. Memorials may be made in John’s name to Meals on Wheels, 1620 12th Ave N, Great Falls, MT59401.
