John “Johannes” Looye passed away from dementia at home on September 10, 2023, in the comfort of his wife, LeeAnna.
John was born on April 29, 1942, in The Hague, Netherlands. His family moved to South Africa, then to Canada, and John eventually ended up in Vancouver.
John was in law enforcement for more than 30 years starting with the RCMP and retiring from West Vancouver Police Department. He enjoyed being a background actor in several movies and a weekly series “Cold Squad” filmed in Vancouver.
John enjoyed participating in a variety of sports, including swimming, skiing, golfing, and tennis, and he enjoyed watching his Toronto Bluejays.
After retirement John was a snowbird, landing in AZ. One February, John got bored with Mesa and went on a Caribbean cruise where he met LeeAnna. They were married that September and enjoyed their years of marriage splitting their time between British Columbia and Arizona and eventually moving to Great Falls, MT.
John kept his sense of humor through his many illnesses and maladies, and when asked if you could get him anything, he’d reply, “Yeah, a new set of legs.”
Preceding him in death were his parents, Clara and Cornelius; brother, Richard (Laurie); sister, Lennie Kerr (Winston); and wife, Aggie Looye.
Surviving John are brothers, Aart (Liz) and Ron; and John’s wife, caretaker, dance partner, nurse, soulmate, chief cook, and bottle washer, LeeAnna. No services are planned at this time.
