John Grundhauser

John Michael Grundhauser passed away at the age of 87 in Anaconda, Montana on Wednesday, September 25, 2013.Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2013 and Monday, September 30, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Schnider Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. A reception will follow at Schnider Funeral Home. John was born April 3, 1926 at Lefor, ND to Michael andChristine Grundhauser. He married Elizabeth Rose Krebs on January 26, 1946. He worked the family farm until 1947 and moved to Dickinson, ND where he got a job working for the railroad. After being laid off, he moved his family to Great Falls and worked for Andys Tire Company. The same year they moved to Conrad where he worked for Firestone Tire Company. They returned to Great Falls in 1953. He worked at General Mills for seven years. They bought a dairy farm by Power in 1960 and sold it in 1967 moving to Great Falls where he worked for Ayrshire Dairy until he retired after 15 years.His wife Elizabeth died in 1979 and he remarried in 1982 to Barbara Nyberg. They resided at Georgetown Lake until 2007 and moved to Anaconda.John enjoyed woodworking, fishing, bowling, baseball, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.He is survived by his wife, Barbara; three sons, Dennis, John, and Daniel Grundhauser; four daughters, Eileen Hines, Arlowene Axtman, Lila Nansel, and JoAnn Robinson; two brothers, Duane and Eugene Grundhauser; three sisters, Anna Krauter, Grace Schiltz, and Dolores Faller; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.John was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Lisa Powers.He was loved and will be missed by family and friends.
