John Donetti

John Bruno Donetti, born April 13, 1923, passed away peacefully with family members by his side on October 18, 2014.A memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.Born to Charles and Rose Donetti, Bruno (the name he went by) grew up on a small farmstead in Sand Coulee with his parents and younger sister, Mary.He was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II, as a member of the 320th Infantry Regiment. He fought for the U.S. in the EMEA theatre, primarily in Germany but other Central European countries as well. He received a number of medals and ribbons for his service and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class with a Rifleman specialty in 1946.Bruno married Marjorie Ann Hayek and moved to Great Falls in 1957. Together they raised three children over forty-one years of marriage before Marjorie passed away in 1998.Bruno started his own drywall and perfataping business, which he ran for over thirty years before retiring. He worked in many homes and offices across the state of Montana.Bruno loved hunting, fishing, gardening, carpentry and watching the local stock car races, as well as any NASCAR race on television. You could also find him in the bleachers, cheering on his children and grandchildren, during their sporting events.Bruno spent the last six years living at the Azalea Place in Great Falls, under the watchful and tender care of Sandy Chevalier, April and Art Simons, and their staff. Brunos family wishes to thank them for providing him with the independence he wanted while ensuring he was taken care of, until the very end.Bruno was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rose; his wife, Marjorie; and his sister, Mary Konesky.He is survived by his children, John (Susan), Kathy (Tom) DeMars, and Jojo; his grandchildren, Jessa (Jon) Youngers and Grahm DeMars; his great-grandchildren, Delaney and Drew Youngers; and many nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Dutton Freeborn Post #64, which he was a member of, or your favorite charity.
