Joanne Kay Kapp, 61, of Cut Bank, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 26, 2017. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church in Cut Bank. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Joanne was born in Menominee, Wisconsin to Calvin and Dorris Emerson on October 21, 1956. By May of 1957, the family made the move to Cut Bank, Montana, where Joanne would spend the rest of her life. Joanne loved the outdoors and animals her entire life. Growing up she spent most of her time with her best friend Susan Berger, out at the Berger family farm. When she wasn't adventuring with Susan she was nurturing her love of books or taking care of her first pet, a cat named Suzy. Joanne graduated from Cut Bank High School in 1975. She then headed to college in Bozeman. After some schooling she returned home to Cut Bank and started working at the hospital, where she met her husband and lifelong companion, John Kapp. The two married November 20, 1977. On August 3, 1985 Joanne had her son, David Kapp. On November 21, 1991 she had her second child, Sarah Kapp. For the next few years she was a very busy stay at home mother. After both children started school, she returned to work. She was extremely hard working, often working two to three jobs a day although she would gladly say that her favorite job, walking dogs at Northern Veterinary Clinic, didn't count. On July 24, 2014, her title became Grandma, as Kenzi Eads joined the family. Joanne loved nothing more than spending time and caring for the new love of her life, Kenzi. The two were inseparable. She was excited to hear about her second grandchild on the way, a grandson, Jackson Presnell. Joanne is joined in death by her parents, Calvin and Dorris Emerson and her many pets over the years. Joanne is survived by her husband, John Kapp; sister Karen (Steve) Recher; children David Kapp and Sarah (Scott) Kapp; grandchildren Kenzi Eads, and (yet to arrive) Jackson Presnell; her best friend (whom is like a sister) Susan Berger; her nieces and nephews; and her menagerie of pets. In lieu of flowers, Joanne’s request was for memorials to be sent to Gift of Life Family Housing Center, 2800 11th Suite 23, Great Falls, MT 59405.
