On February 8, 2015, the world lost an amazing woman, forever changing the lives of those who knew and loved her. Joan Jonie Duncan, fought a merciless battle against cancer that eventually took her from us at the age of 62.A funeral service will be held Friday, February 13, 2015, at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.On March 18, 1952, Jonies beauty was delivered into this world by Alexander and Bessie Deshner. She was born and raised in Great Falls in a large, loving family that shared many adventures. She graduated from Great Falls High in 1969. In 1971, she married Gary Samuels and her first daughter Nicole Nikki was born. They later divorced.In 1984, Jonie married the love of her life, Roger, and a year later their daughter Danielle was born. Together they ran their successful business, Northwest Truck. Their summer days were often spent at their cabin on Holter Lake where Jonie took delight in spending time with her family. They traveled to many beautiful destinations, but Jonies favorite place by far was Kona, Hawaii.Jonie was very artistic and loved to decorate and create various pieces of art. Her favorite pastime was playing pool. She played in pool leagues for over 20 years with the girls. In 2010, she created the Stick It! Pool League and operated it with her daughter, Nikki.Jonies spirit is carried on by her husband Roger Duncan; daughters Nikki (Bryan) Guckeen and Danielle (Jasen) Duncan; granddaughter Alexandra Guckeen and grandson Grant Duncan, all of Great Falls; mother Bessie Deshner of Great Falls; sisters Patti (Louie) and Mary (Ron) of Great Falls; brothers Arthur (Bede) of Great Falls, Paul (Loretta) of Great Falls, Chuck (Marsha) of Butte, Alex (Gayle) of Tampa, FL, and Earl (Julie) of Jackson, WY; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her father, Alexander Deshner and her brother, Vernon Ekert.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, 1903 Central Ave., Billings, MT 59102 or Benefis Peace Hospice, 1109 26th St. S., Great Falls, MT 59405.
