Joan K. Deffé, 85, of Great Falls, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019. A funeral liturgy will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Joan will join her husband at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Helena. Joan was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on April 7, 1934, to Mildred and Howard Erb. She was educated 3rd grade through high school in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota. She married Gregory J. Deffé on November 26, 1953. After living in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and Polson, Montana they moved to Great Falls in 1963. In 1976, she became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at the Columbus Hospital until retiring in 1996. She enjoyed oil painting, and sold and showed her paintings at many places in Montana. She is survived by her sons, Steven (Mary Kim) Deffé of Ketchum, ID, Mark (Martha) Deffé and Gregory “Chip” Deffé, both of Hailey, ID, and Douglas (Katy) Deffé of Great Falls; brother, Paul “Buzz” (Kathy) Erb of Great Falls; grandchildren, Madison, Drew, Anne Marie, Chloe, and Myles Deffé; and Ashley (C.J.) Blake and Sabrina Betzel; and great-granddaughter, Keeley Blake. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory; parents, Howard and Mildred Erb; brother, H. Keith Erb; and sister, Roberta Bateman.
