Jeanne Marie (Poirier) Moore, 91, passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 28.Visitation will occur one hour prior to the vigil service at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 2, at 7 p.m. and a funeral liturgy at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 3, at Holy Spirit. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Jeanne was born in Harlowton, Montana, on August 27, 1924, the second child of Antoine and Evelyn Poirier. She grew up in Harlo and graduated from Harlowton High School in 1942.She attended Montana State College in Bozeman, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. After two years of college, she left school and married John Fulton Moore on October 1, 1944.They lived briefly in Chico, California, before John was stationed as an Army Air Corps pilot in the Aleutian Islands. While he was there, Jeanne returned to Harlowton and helped run her fathers abstract business.After the war, Jeanne and John lived in Bozeman while he attended MSC. Their first child, Connie, was born there. The young family then lived in Missoula until John graduated from Montana State University. They then returned to Harlowton, where he took a teaching position at Harlowton High.While in Harlo, Jeanne added two more children to the familyJan and Johnny. John switched from teaching to New York Life Insurance, a career he pursued the rest of his life.In 1954, Jeanne and John moved to Great Falls. Over the next nine years, the family rounded out with the arrivals of Tom, Mary, and Jim.Jeanne was active with St. Gerards Parish, serving as a sacristan as well as Eucharistic Minister. She sat on the Pastoral Council and Altar Society Board. She was active with the Home and School Association and St. Anns Circle. She volunteered at Columbus Hospital and with Girl Scouts.As her older children entered high school, she became involved with Great Falls Central Moms. She also served for several years as the Executive Secretary of the North Montana Life Underwriters and was active with the Great Falls Community Concert Association.She and John were active with the Cursillo movement and Marriage Encounters. They were one of the first couples in-state to present at Marriage Encounter.In 1974, when Jeanne wanted a new dining-room set, she decided the best way to get it was to go to work. She took a job with Ralph Sluyss import service, where she worked for about five years.Later, she stopped volunteering at the Columbus Hospital Gift Shop in order to take the job as its manager. After Benefis Healthcare formed in 1996, she ran the gift shops at both campuses until her retirement in 2007. She also traveled widely with friends, including a tour of the Holy Land.She remained active with Holy Spirit Catholic Church, serving as sacristan, Eucharistic Minister, and member of the Pastoral Council. Earlier this year, she took up residence at Highgate Senior Living, where she enjoyed the company of staff and fellow residents.Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1984, her mother, Evie, in 1985, her father, Tony, in 1991, and her brother, Paul Poirier, in 2007.She is survived by her brother, John Poirier (Jule), of South Bend, IN, sister-in-law Jean Poirier of Helena, her children Connie Morris (Bill) and Mary Moore Wingerter (Jim) of Great Falls, Jan Buyske (Marc) and John Moore (Ann Waickman) of Helena, Tom Moore (Jeanine) of Billings, and Jim Moore of Boise, ID. She leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.Jeannes family extends their gratitude to the caring staff at Highgate Senior Living.
