Jay William Baumberger

Jay William Baumberger, 65, of Great Falls, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 surrounded by his loving wife and mother. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 2PM at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1410 13th St. S. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Jay was born on January 7, 1952 in Great Falls, Montana to Richard and Joyce Baumberger. He attended Great Falls High School and graduated in the class of 1970. He went on to attend the University of Montana and played football for UM. He then transferred to North Dakota State University in Fargo and continued his football career there. Jay returned back to Great Falls after college and began working for the City of Great Falls in the Sanitation Department. Jay belonged to the Electric City Referee Pool and refereed many basketball games around Montana. He volunteered at the Eagle Falls Golf Course and on the Great Falls High Sign Committee. Jay also known as “Jaybird” to many, loved all sports especially football, basketball, baseball and golf. He was survived by the loves of his life, Debra Baumberger and his mother, Joyce Baumberger. Jay was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Dick” Baumberger. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jay’s name can be made to the Great Falls High School Electric Sign Fund.
