Jason James Tigart

April 26, 1972 — April 3, 2023

Our beloved son, brother, father, and friend, Jason James Tigart, left this world unexpectedly on April 3, 2023, in Bozeman where he had resided since 2014. Formerly of Great Falls, he was born on an unseasonably warm spring day on April 26, 1972, to Donald Tigart and Dora (Cranmer) Tigart, who later divorced.

A very inquisitive youngster, Jason often did things to scare his mother and grandparents. He was very smart and could figure out multiple ways to get into trouble. He was a fearless daredevil, jumping off roofs, doing bicycle stunts, climbing trees, and teaching his younger sister to be a tomboy. He was also a member of the Cub Scouts for a time.

As a child, Jason started school in Anaconda, then went to Shelby, and finally Great Falls where he attended Franklin, Lewis & Clark, and Roosevelt Elementary Schools. He attended Paris Gibson and East Junior Highs, graduating from Great Falls High School in 1990. Jason worked at a number of different occupations over the years including roofing and construction. After obtaining CDL training, he drove truck for lumber, fuel, water delivery, and linen supply companies.

Active in baseball from Little League through Legion – Jason played for All Stars, Sparkies, and Electrics. He also briefly dabbled in basketball and football. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and archery (with stepdad, Steve). He continued to hunt and fish with his dad and other family all of his adult life. Under his dad’s mentorship he came to love the game of pool and being a quick study, he soon excelled at it.

Jason met and later married Sky Northerner in 1997, and they welcomed daughter Tessa in 2006. It was during this time that he was truly the happiest in his life, as Tessa became the apple of his eye. They spent many happy hours playing together. Sky and Jason divorced in 2008, and he later moved to Bozeman in 2014 to be near his daughter.

Jason became well known in the pool community, winning many accolades and trophies all over the state. He and his teams competed in multiple Championships including APA, BCA, and VNEA in Las Vegas, which he enjoyed immensely. He was looking forward to making that trip again at the end of May this year. Jason made many friends and has touched many lives. He was truly a big guy with a big heart, always ready to help out a friend. He was loved and respected by so many people in both Great Falls and Bozeman, and throughout the state. Jason will be deeply missed by all of us - family and friends alike, and will always be remembered, as we carry him in our hearts.

Jason is survived by his daughter, Tessa Tigart of Bozeman; parents, Dora (Steve) White and Donald (Frankie) Tigart ; grandmother, Gwen Tigart;  sisters, Rayna (Tigart) Bourgeois, all of Great Falls; Jennifer (Drew) Wemple of Fort Benton; brother, Ryan White of Conrad; uncles, Terry (Carol) Tigart, Chris, and Morgan (Mat) Tigart; and aunt, Julie (Charles) Johnson of Great Falls, aunt, Grace (Charles) Crowder of LaGrange, GA, and aunt, Ruth Baker of Lincoln, MT. He was close to his nephew, Trevor Bourgeois, and enjoyed times with nephew and niece, Aidan and Elliana Bourgeois, all of Great Falls. He also maintained close ties with stepbrothers, Jason and Jeff Beattie, both of Great Falls; and numerous cousins and extended family.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Tigart and James and Violet Cranmer; aunt, Linda Tigart; and first cousin, Amanda Baker.
