Jason Vaughan Christofferson

March 27, 1983 — March 31, 2021

Jason Vaughan Christofferson was born in Miles City, MT on March 27, 1983, to Carl and Roxanne (Holland) Christofferson. He passed away on March 31, 2021, in West Los Angeles, CA at the age of 38. Jason attended Meadowlark Elementary, Paris Gibson Middle School, and graduated from CMR in 2002. He excelled academically and won awards in art and mathematics at the local, state, and regional level. He placed in the top 5% of the nation on the ACT. He participated in a variety of sports in his youth-baseball, soccer, basketball, football, hockey, and golf. He accepted a scholarship with the Marines and chose active duty upon graduation. His expertise in math led him to be a load master on the C 130s which took him on missions throughout the world and a tour in Iraq. Jason then transferred his service to the Wyoming Air National Guard so he could continue flying on the C 130s and start his education at the University of Wyoming. There he played rugby and graduated with honors with two bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and economics. Jason then pursued a master’s in mathematical finance at the University of Southern California. Upon completing his Masters, he worked as a manager/director of data/financial analyst in the Los Angeles area. Jason enjoyed the weather and social opportunities provided in the LA area and it was there he met his wife, Rie. He was extremely loyal in his relationships and loved spending time and socializing with friends. Camping, hiking, softball, exercise, concerts, and art museums were part of his wide spectrum of interests. He took special interest in cars and always was dressed for the occasion, whether it was a costume party or a formal event! Jason enjoyed a good debate, and it was difficult to be on the winning side of a debate/argument with him. His repertoire of facts was unending! When he would say, “Did you know..., Do you realize..., Can you believe...?” you knew you were about to be enlightened! Jason is survived by his wife, Rie Kitamura of West Los Angeles; his parents, Carl and Roxanne of Great Falls; brother, Tyson Christofferson and Natalia Gai; nieces, Madison, Mackenzie, Sydney, Kayla, and Isabel of Battle Ground, WA; brother, Shawn Christofferson and Anna; nephews, Sam and Quinn and niece, Dylan of Great Falls; daughter, Lia Wang of Pasadena, CA; and many relatives and friends. A celebration of life with military honors will be held at the Black Eagle Community Center on April 29, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. A taco buffet will follow. Services will be streamed on Zoom. Jason's ashes will rest at his favorite spot, the family cabin near Seeley Lake, MT. In lieu of flowers and those wishing to honor Jason, the family requests donations be directed to a math scholarship in Jason's memory that is being established through the GFPS Foundation. Jason chose to find his perfect life in Heaven where he joins his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Holland; and will finally meet his maternal grandfather, Vaughan Holland; and paternal grandparents, Carl and Billee Christofferson. He was also preceded in death by his uncle, David Holland and aunt, Lora Lyall. Heaven has gained an amazing, intelligent, handsome, dedicated, caring man that was loved more than he knew. His message to all is: “I just want people to be nice.” Here is the zoom link for Jason's services.
