Janie Staats, 67, of Great Falls, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 of natural causes at Peace Hospice.A vigil service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. A funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Janie was born in Great Falls, Montana on February 23, 1948. She married Michael J. Staats on July 2, 1966, in Cardston, Alberta and together they raised their boys. Janie graduated from Dahls College of Beauty and worked as a hairdresser. She also worked as the head housekeeper at the Holiday Inn for several years and as a CNA for many years and did home healthcare. Being the loving, caring person Janie was, she became very close to all of her patients. She worked for Peace Hospice for the last 14 years of her career, until she retired due to health reasons.Janie was a very devoted Catholic and attended church at Our Lady of Lourdes faithfully. She loved to paint ceramics, cross stitch, quilt, drink her Diet Pepsi, and most of all, spend time with her grandchildren as often as she could.Janie is survived by her sons, Todd (Kelli) Staats of Kalispell and Jody (Sharlene) Staats of Great Falls; brothers Raymond John (Linda) Gonzales, Albert Gonzales and Tom (Henny) Villareal; sister Roberta (Patxi) Salterain; grandchildren Britny, Levi, Michaelann, Ally and McKenzie Staats; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose; husband Mike; brothers Bobby and Marvin Gonzales and Archie Villareal; and sisters Delphine McGregor, Marlene Komiotis, Delores Minyard and Minerva Gonzales.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St. S., Great Falls, MT 59405.
