Janice Olson

Janice Marie Aline Olson of Great Falls, MT was called to heaven on May 21, 2013 two days after her 72nd birthday.Born to Henry and Annie Aline the youngest of ten children in Great Falls and raised in Tracy, MT. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1960 and married Clarence (Jim) Olson in September of 1962 which later ended in divorce. Together they had three daughters Cheryl, Chris and Cindy.She worked as a cook for various restaurants in Great Falls and retired in 2006 with over 25 years of service from Benefis East Hospital in food service. She was a hard worker and rarely missed a day of work.She devoted much of her retirement as a volunteer to help others. She volunteered at the Benefis Extended Care Center and Soroptimist Village. She looked forward to helping with the Mothers Day Brunch at the Ursuline Center every year and to see people she knew. She was a member of the St. Josephs Parish, VFW Auxillary, Extension Home Makers and the Lamp Lighters Club.What she enjoyed the most was her family and friends, especially when the family could all get together. Playing bingo with her sisters, Betty and Gertie brought her great enjoyment. She was an avid card player and was a fierce competitor in any game she played. Shang Hai, Cribbage and Pinochle were her favorites.Welcoming her in heaven are her parents; infant daughter, Cindy Jo Olson; brothers Henry, Walt, Tom and Joe; and sister Josephine Birkland.Surviving her are daughters, Cheryl (Scott) Porter of Elko, NV and Chris (Ken) Olson of Missoula, MT. Granddaughter, Jessica (RJ) Lowder of Sheridan, MT andtwo great-grandchildren Laine and Leigha. Brothers Andy and Bob (Terri) Aline; sisters Gertie Pancich and Betty (Ted) Funyak; and numerous nieces and nephews.A funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, May 30th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Josephs Chapel with a reception to follow. Inurnment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Janice may be made to Opportunity Resources, Inc., 2821 S.
