James "Jim" Wurster

James Jim Charles Wurster, 70, of Monarch, died Friday, August 25, 2017 at Peace Hospice, of complications from traumatic brain injury sustained in a single-vehicle motorcycle accident due to equipment failure on May 5, 2017 near Neihart.Jim was born June 23, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA, to Charles R. and Betty Hart Wurster. He grew up in Aberdeen, SD, and Casper, WY, where he graduated from high school in 1965. Jim served in the Army Intelligence Corps in Europe for 3 years, then returned to Wyoming, where he attended Casper College and the University of Wyoming in Laramie.He met his future wife, Lorraine King Lorry, at UW, and they were married June 23, 1972, in Lorry's hometown of Great Falls. After spending 3 years attending the University of Montana in Missoula, the Wursters moved back to Casper.Jim completed his Associates Degree in diesel mechanics at Casper College in 1977. He worked for Wyoming Machinery as a diesel mechanic, and for Ingersoll-Rand as an office manager in Casper. Jim also worked part-time as a ski instructor at Hogadon Basin Ski Area in Casper. Jim and Lorry's children, Greg, A.J., and Lydia Renee were born in Casper.In 1999, the family moved to Great Falls, where Jim worked as an office manager for Western Plains Machinery, and at the Refinery, before becoming a locksmith and safe salesman at Central Montana Lock and Safe where he worked until his retirement in 2013.Jim was passionate about shooting sports, motorcycles and skiing. He belonged to the NRA and the Great Falls Ski and Board Club. In his youth, he participated in motocross and super-bike motorcycle roadracing.In 2014, the Wursters moved to Lorry's family ranch near Monarch, where Jim was able to pursue all his hobbies. It was while riding his beloved Ducati motorcycle that Jim had his accident that resulted in the injury that ultimately claimed his life.Jim is survived by his wife, Lorry of Monarch; son Gregory Wurster; daughter Renee (Eric) Samson; and granddaughters Lorelei, Evelyn and Imrielle Samson all of Great Falls.He was preceded in death by his parents and son A.J.A celebration of Jim's life is planned at the King Family Ranch, 89 Hwy 427, Monarch, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017.For information regarding the service, please contact Kathy Remington at 406-771-0484.The family requests no flowers, but suggests contributions to the grandchildren's college fund administered by Kristine Voorhees at Waddell & Reed, 406-791-4368.
